Our research has demonstrated that in specific scenarios, HYVERT living walls can help reduce a building's surface temperature through a combination of evapotranspiration, shading and insulation meaning the urban heat island effect is significantly reduced.
The urban heat island effect occurs as the building's surface absorbs the sun's energy. This is very difficult to avoid in urban spaces owing to the cramped design of many cities as the heat gets trapped leading to costly additions to mitigate this e.g. air conditioning and HVAC systems.
By cladding a building exterior with a HYVERT living green wall, it will act like a biological skin for the building, providing insulation against both cold and hot weather extremes.
