The Co-op Steeple Claydon in Buckinghamshire is our third project for this house-hold brand. Another new Co-op store which will be powered by 100% renewable energy. Approaching this new build The Co-op call it a 'cradle to cradle approach'. This means that between 80-100% of all materials used eg. foundations, glazing and cladding have the capacity to be re-used within a future new build. Just one approach which will assist them in meeting their carbon reduction ambitions to be NetZero by 2040.
With many more sustainable initiatives in place, including re-using energy expended by fridges to re-heat the store, the addition of FOUR HYVERT living walls externally, will also provide extra insulation whilst at the same time reducing air pollutants and boosting biodiversity. It will also make a beautiful focal point for the local community too. (Our thanks to the Co-op for sharing these great images with us.)
